According to the 2006 IFBB Congress decision, the number of categories in women bodybuilding has been limited to two. Florina Visan of Romania had her happy moments, winning the 55 kg class, after few final places in the recent years. The heavyweight category, over 55 kg,
also had new champion, Olga Guryeva from Russia. Both champions had to run a very close battle with their main rivals: Zdena Nazarejova (55 kg) and Salla Kauranen (+55 kg), who even managed to win single rounds with the champions.

MARNIE HOLLEY – THE FIRST POLE-VAULTER AMONG THE FITNESS STARS
When I was going through the Competitor’s Information Forms collected during the athletes’ registration at the recent World Women’s Championships in Santa Susanna, I noticed, with surprise, that one fitness competitor practised pole-vaulting at national level.
There is one tall classic bodybuilder in the IFBB, Bjorn Vestrum Olsson from Norway, who competed in high jumping but Marnie Holley is the first IFBB competitor with the pole-vaulting experience. She was also doing gymnastics and diving, so has had a comprehensive background for performing fitness at top level.

h the top of the biggest pyramid, called the “Pyramid of the Sun” where they could touch the peak point to get extra positive energy, which could be very useful during the battle on stage. It was a great and very impressive experience.
The first part of the Championships started Friday afternoon with Technical Meeting, followed by the official weigh-in and height measurement. As usual, it took few hours, as each athlete should be measured and registered to produce the official Start List.

Friday 27 May 2011: TRIPLE-UPs
TRIPLE UPs: PULL-UP, SIT-UP, PUSH-UP
Perform as many supersets of pull-ups, sit-ups, and push-ups as possible in twenty minutes.
A superset is done by performing one set of each exercise back to back to back with little or no rest in between. Choose a number of reps that is well below your max to prevent early burnout during the training session. The training effect today will come from the overall volume of exercise combined with short rest periods, not max effort sets. Rest between supersets as necessary.
Intermediate and Basic trainees should substitute assisted, partial, or jumping pull-ups, body rows, crunches, and knee push-ups as necessary.

Dejager (Canada), 2006 Worlds runner-up, had no problem this time as she won with the perfect scores over the last year Arnold’s runner-up Millie Cleveland (Bermuda).
But there was a very tough battle in the heavyweight class between Rita Bello (Argentina) and Alevtina Goroshinskaya (Russia). Finally, both girls received the same scores in total and Bello placed first due the better score in the physique assessment round in the finals (now it is the 2nd round).
This year Arnold Championships women’s bodybuilding was fully international, with 30 athletes representing 11 countries and 4 continents. They provided top emotions and showed top sport quality.

She came, she competed, she won! Her bodyweight category and overall title. Like at the 2007 World Championships. Elena Shportun returns to the stage in a great style. As always very stylish, very finesse, very inspiring, very feminine. And in shape.
First, in her category (up to 63,5 kg) she had to win against the last year winner Jo Stewart (New Zealand), Worlds bronze medal winner Salla Kauranen (Finland) and US challenger Jill Lundy. And then she met on stage the other category winners: Johanna Dejager (56,7 kg) and Rita Bello (over 63,5 kg).

Many top stars performed in women’s fitness tall class, including current world champion Natalia Chukaeva, world championships medal winners: Olga Bondar and Natalia Nazarenko-Kiivikas as well as two-time world junior champion Oksana Orobets.
But the winner emerged from newcomers. New Russian star Tatiana Dvortsova, 31, graduated from the Pedagogical Institute in Moscow, successfully challenged all the above mentioned stars and winning both physique assessment rounds took the gold medal. Impressive beginning of the sport career after wining her stage debut at the 2010 Cup of Russia in Krasnodar over Chukaeva.
